Our Work

Proyecto Refugio is a non-profit organization in Mexico dedicated to improving quality of life by addressing the nutritional, medical & emotional needs of the poor and disenfranchized in Guadalajara, Mexico. Our goal is to provide not only temporary relief, but to make a lasting difference through providing daily balanced meals, proper healthcare & adult educational programs, and through such giving them the tools to help better the quality of life for themselves & future generations.

The center is open to the public and offers four main areas of operation:

1. MEAL CENTER "EL REFUGIO": a free kitchen and dining room.

2. HEALTHCARE CENTER EL REFUGIO: a medical center offering freely Dental Health Care, Mental Health Care, Orthopedic Care, and General Family Health Care.

3. FOOD PANTRY EL REFUGIO: food distribution department dedicated to fighting hunger by delivering packages of supplies to families in crisis.

4. EVENT HALL & AUDITORIUM: a seminar hall used for motivational conferences, vocational skills training, marriage and parenting counseling, as well as daily hygiene and nutrition education to aid in disease prevention. The objective is to build healthier, stronger, economically independent families that are beneficial to their communities.

The center is open to the public Monday through Friday, with three areas of operation; the free kitchen, Medical & Dental center & the seminar hall. Services offered promote general health, mental health and well being as well the longer term goals of helping build healthier, stronger families who are also economically independent. The activities also include motivational seminars, parenting and marriage counseling, vocational skills training, and hygiene and nutrition education to aid in disease prevention.
